| At The Mudd Puddle they are as serious about quality food as they are exceptional drinks. Their menu says "Try Panini - You'll get hooked." Panini are grilled in a press to permeate the flavors of gourmet meats, cheeses and herbs into the bread. Panini sandwiches are made with fine Italian breads and sophisticated fillings that highlight the pallet for the final fantabulous sandwich. |

The Way Coffee Was Meant to Be: Did you know that coffee was actually blessed by the Pope toward the end of the 16th century? The discovery of these caffeinated beans led to quite a controversy. As its popularity rapidly spread, coffee was actually accused of being from the devil. Priest were under the assumption that something so pleasurable must be a sin. But Pope Clement VIII soon cleared that up when he tried some for himself. Out of this came the Golden Age of coffee. Coffee shared in its ascendancy as a democratic symbol and fuel for the thinkers of the day. It was linked with an atmosphere of heightened spiritual or mental awareness. Coffee houses served as the center of social intercourse. They functioned as a pulpit, a classroom, a courtroom & a stage to writers, politicians, artist, and other truth-seekers. They all gathered in these Cafes for debates, meetings, or just the perfect atmosphere to stimulate their work. |

At the Mudd Puddle, we want to pay homage to the way coffee was meant to be.
Come in and see for yourself how we have recreated the "Golden Age" of
coffee.
| Most Worth an Hours Drive up I-270 Just up the hill from Carroll Creek in downtown Frederick, Mudd Puddle (124 S. Carroll Street, 301-620-4323) is the quintessential laid back coffee house with an eclectic mix of kitchen, living room and Vicctorian ice cream parlor furniture - and, as a bizarre extra, a picture window offering ringside seeats to the martial arts classes taking place next door. -Washington Post |
